May 1, 2026
Dear Families,
May is a time to celebrate and reflect, and at Taft we celebrate our growth, our diversity, and our Tiger PRIDE. This month we will celebrate all of these things, and you may notice your children reflecting on their own growth and their unique contributions to our community school.
Next week will celebrate that our diversity is our strength at our annual Culture Fest, happening May 7th from 5-7pm, here at Taft. Please bring a food dish to share, and feel free to dress in a way that celebrates who you are and where you are from.
The following week (May 11-15th) we will celebrate our students' growth in reading this year. One of our school-wide goals has been to improve reading proficiency, and we will celebrate student growth with another FREE BOOK FAIR in the library this week. All students will bring home 5 free books to continue building on their reading successes.
We will also celebrate
Teacher Appreciation Week at Taft that week (May 11-16th). Feel free to
contribute to our teacher appreciation lunch, drop off some Keurig Coffee pods for the teachers' lounge, or just
send them an appreciation.
We are also reflecting on our Staff, Student, and Family engagement survey results which we recieved this week. We will share highlights with you before the end of the school year, and use this feedback to celebrate and plan our goals for next year.
We strive to provide a rigorous, inclusive, and joyful learning space for your child and every child, every day. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions, concerns, or celebrations.
Sincerely,
Amy Collinge
