A note from our Principal

August 3, 2026

Dear Families,

We can't wait to welcome all of our Taft Tigers back next week! Our building is quiet right now, but our teachers have been in and out all summer working to prepare for your children.

Your child's teacher will communicate with you in Parent Square this Monday, August 10th, to let you know who your teachers are. Please plan to join us on Tuesday, August 11th from 3-4pm for our annual Resource Fair and a chance to meet your teacher and share a popsicle.

We are so grateful for this incredible community, and can't wait to work together this year to help keep Taft the place where every learner grows every day.

In deep appreciation,

Amy Collinge
Principal & Lead Learner
Taft Elementary

Moment of Silence (Required by State Law)

In accordance with Idaho Code 33-1639, all schools are required to provide a brief moment of silence of at least sixty (60) seconds at or near the beginning of each school day. During this time, students must remain silent and may use the moment for individual reflection, meditation, prayer, or another silent activity of their choice, provided it does not interfere with others. In accordance with the law, parents are encouraged to provide guidance to their children on how they may use this time each day.

Emergency Drills:

On Thursday, August 20th we will practice all of our primary emergency drills including Hall Check, Shelter in Place, Evacuation, Reverse Evacuation, and Lockdown. We do these drills back to back in the morning and clearly explain each procedure to students so that they know what to expect in the future. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher.

Taft has a unique parent group called the Taft Family Collective who focuses on family engagement and supporting the school and teachers in a variety of ways. Everyone is welcome to join! We would love to see you at our first meeting on August 25th at 3:30 here at Taft.
